Pet X-rays
in Cary
Digital full-body imaging for diagnosing internal issues.

Radiology Diagnostics
X-rays are a tool in veterinary medicine that enable veterinarians to see beyond the surface and examine your pet’s bones, joints, and internal organs with incredible detail. At Green Level Animal Hospital, we can perform advanced full-body digital pet X-rays as part of our comprehensive diagnostic services. With digital technology, we can capture high-quality images of cats and dogs quickly and provide accurate diagnoses.
A look at the science behind radiographs.
Digital X-ray technology, also called radiography, uses electromagnetic radiation to create detailed images of your pet’s internal structures. When
X-rays pass through your pet’s body, denser materials like bones absorb the radiation, while softer tissues allow more of it to pass through. This difference creates a clear image, showing the contrast between bones, tissues, and organs. The result is a highly detailed, accurate picture that vets can use to identify fractures, abnormalities, or diseases that would not be visible during a regular physical exam.
With digital pet X-rays, our staff can view and analyze the images immediately, providing real-time insight into your pet’s health. Digital technology also offers the benefit of reducing radiation exposure compared to traditional X-rays, making it a safer option for your pet.

What X-rays are used for at an animal hospital.
X-rays are used to evaluate health conditions in pets. Some common uses for pets X-rays include:
- Bone Fractures & Injuries X-rays help us assess the severity of fractures or bone abnormalities.
- Joint Conditions X-rays can reveal joint problems such as arthritis, hip dysplasia, and ligament injuries.
- Foreign Objects If your pet swallows an item that was not meant to be eaten, X-rays can locate the object and determine the best course of action.
- Chest & Abdominal Issues X-rays examine the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs to check for conditions like tumors, pneumonia, or gastrointestinal blockages.

or dog needs X-rays.
X-rays are a non-invasive procedure, and in most cases, sedation is not required. However, if your pet is very anxious or in pain, we may recommend light sedation to keep them calm and still for the best imaging results. During the procedure, pet owners are not allowed to accompany their pets into the X-ray room due to the exposure to radiation. Our staff will take excellent care of your pet throughout the process. The procedure itself is quick and painless, and we will be able to view the results immediately.
Once the X-rays are complete, our veterinarian will review the images with you, explain the findings, and discuss any next steps for treatment or further diagnostics. With digital pet X-ray technology, we can provide fast, accurate results, so you do not have to wait to learn about your pet’s condition.
